Alternative Transportation - Cyclist & Walker Program
Cyclists and Walkers enjoy health benefits and save money by utilizing a commute mode that provides reliable transportation and is environmentally friendly. Participants enrolled in this Alternative Transportation program receive several valuable incentives, designed to make cycling and walking an even better commute choice.
Program Eligibility
Faculty, staff or full-time graduate students are eligible to participate in the Cyclist & Walker program. Program applicants may not hold a daytime commuter permit and cyclists must have a valid California Bicycle License sticker on their bicycle(s).
Enrollment information provided to TAPS is subject to verification prior to issuance of incentives. This process is completed utilizing University electronic records.
Bicycle Licensing
All bicycles operated or parked at UCR are required to have a current California Bicycle License. TAPS is providing FREE bicycle license registration to members of the campus community.
TAPS is open from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Participants must have their bicycle with them when they register.
Complimentary Parking Privileges
All cyclists and walkers registered in the AT program are eligible for a maximum of 48 complimentary days of parking per year. Complimentary parking allotments are issued through a web-based print-on-demand system from the TAPS website. Parking allotment balances can be viewed on this website; daily parking permits are printed prior to commuting to campus, eliminating the need to visit a permit dispenser
In lieu of receiving complimentary daily permits, participants may choose a Night permit as their complimentary parking incentive. Night permits are valid after 4:00pm, Monday through Friday and weekends
Complimentary Locker and Shower Facilities
Registered program participants are eligible to utilize the facilities at the Physical Education building without charge. Fitness Card authorization forms can be requested at TAPS.
