The goal of Alternative Transportation is to reduce the total number of single occupant vehicle trips made to campus by faculty, staff and students. This goal supports California clean-air mandates and reduces campus and community congestion.

A variety of programs and services are available to UCR faculty, staff, and students. For a detailed description of the incentives available through Alternative Transportation commuter programs, click on the links listed above for a specific commute mode.

**News**
  • Vanpool Seats Still Available!
Why commute alone? Reduce your commute costs and eliminate stress with a time saving commute choice- riding a UCR Vanpool!

We’re even prepared to start new routes – all it takes is seven committed riders! Current vanpool route information is available on the Vanpool Information page. Contact Eve Kent for more information.
We require at least two faculty/staff members willing to share driving responsibilities; a minimum of seven faculty and/or staff members are needed to begin a new vanpool route.

  • RTA service enhancements affecting UCR
Starting in January 2008, RTA will be increasing their service to UCR. Changes will be made to Routes 1, 14, and 16 and Express Routes from Montclair (204) and Temecula (208) to campus.

  • Register Your Bike
All bicycles operated or parked at UCR are required to have a current California Bicycle License. Transportation and Parking Services is providing FREE bicycle license registration to members of the campus community. Participants must have their bicycle with them when they register. Come to the Parking Services office any time during normal working hours to register and receive your bike license.
