Alternative Transportation Enrollment

Alternative Transportation Programs
2009/2010 Renewal/Enrollment Information

Thank you for participating in UCR'S Alternative Transportation Programs.

The goal of Alternative Transportation is to reduce the total number of single occupant vehicle trips made to campus by faculty, staff and students. This goal supports California clean-air mandates and reduces campus and community congestion.

Important Program Information:

RTA and Metrolink Riders: All individuals registering as RTA or Metrolink riders must either obtain their passes from the TAPS office or provide a copy their annual transit pass as part of the verification process.

Bicycle Participants: All bicycles operated or parked at UCR are required to have a current California Bicycle License. As such, all participants in the Bicycle Program will be required to have a valid California Bicycle License sticker on their bicycle(s).

TAPS provides FREE bicycle license registration to members of the campus community. TAPS is open from 8:00 am – 4:00 pm Monday through Friday. Participants must have their bicycle with them when they register.

Carpool participants: All Carpool participants will be responsible for a portion of the permit costs. Through renewal/enrollment in pre-tax payroll deductions, the carpool permit fee will be divided between both (all) partners. A renewal/enrollment request must be completed by every member of a carpool group before the permit (or any complimentary parking incentives) can be issued. Payroll deductions of continuing participants will be cancelled if renewal/enrollment procedures have not been completed by July 10, 2009.

Drop Off Participants: Individuals applying for the Drop Off program will need to provide TAPS with verification of employment for their carpool partner, i.e. payroll stub or letter from their carpool partner's employer before receiving their complementary parking incentive.

Program Incentive Highlights:

Alternative Transportation participants who do not hold a daytime commuter permit may choose the new "AT Web Account" http://www.parking.ucr.edu/ATDailyPermit/ to access their complimentary parking allotment. Complimentary parking allotment balances can be viewed on this website; daily parking permits are printed prior to commuting to campus, eliminating the need to visit a permit dispenser.

The maximum number of daily permits that participants will be able to accumulate will be 1.5 times the annual allotment or 36 daily permits for carpoolers, vanpoolers, and drop offs and 1.25 times the annual allotment or 60 daily permits for walkers, bicyclists, Riverside Transit Agency bus riders, and train riders.

Complimentary Night Permit - In lieu of Web Account, a complementary Night permit may be chosen as the 09/10 complimentary parking incentive. Permits are mailed to the participant's home address. Night permits are valid after 4:00 PM and weekends.

Incentive selections are made upon renewal/enrollment and are not eligible for exchange.

Information provided to Alternative Transportation is subject to review prior to the issuance of incentives. Eligibility requirements are verified utilizing University electronic records
